The 2014-2016 Chevrolet SS Sedan brought back rear-wheel-drive performance to the Chevrolet lineup, powered by a 6.2-liter LS3 V-8 engine producing 415 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. Derived from the Australian Holden Commodore VF, the SS Sedan shared its platform with the Caprice PPV, a vehicle designed for police use from 2011 to 2017. The SS Sedan features HID headlights, LED daytime running lights, and a distinctive aluminum hood with a “power bulge.” Both vehicles offer near 50/50 weight distribution, electric power steering, and Brembo front disc brakes, making them capable performers on the street and the track.
The SS accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in approximately five seconds, while the Caprice PPV, with its focus on law enforcement duties, delivers powerful performance in a practical package. Inside, the SS Sedan offers a premium sport sedan experience with features like dual-zone automatic climate control, heated and ventilated leather seats, a nine-speaker Bose sound system, remote start, heads-up display, and an eight-inch Chevrolet MyLink touchscreen. The SS was also the first Chevrolet to offer Automatic Parking Assist, and the addition of Magnetic Ride Control in 2015 further enhanced its handling capabilities.
